ISBN 978 90 79517 01 5, published in 2008 by Artificial Harmonics, Utrecht, The Netherlands, hardcover, about 5.5 by 8.25 inches, 14 by 21 cm., 153 pages, 68-page size color photographic plates and a few color and black and white photographs in the introductory section of the book.
"Sea Urchins of the Philippines" is the first and only volume of a three-volume set that was unfinished. This volume covers the species that are categorized as "the irregulars," that is, those having irregular shapes as opposed to those that are round. There is an excellent introductory section, and the body of the book describes in detail the sixty-eight species covered in this book. The descriptions include the test (shell), the spines, the Pedicellariae, the color, the distribution, and notes if any of each of the species. Each of the urchins is shown as specimens with their spines and with their spines removed, the tests upper, lower, and lateral surfaces, and in some cases a close-up of the test. This book will primarily appeal to specialists and to scientists working with these echinoderms. This book is in new condition. This is a book that we used to stock, but this copy was "lost" in our office and turned up when the office had to be emptied so that it could be painted. As far as I know, this is the only copy of this book now available.
