Robin's new book, "Compendium of Marine Gastropods" is much more than just a second edition of his 2008 "Encyclopedia of Marine Gastropods". The new book has grown to 674 pages from the older book's 480 pages. And, it increases the number of species that are covered to more than 6000. Many of the newly added shells have been described since the earlier book was published. They are based on type material housed in the Paris Museum of Natural History. The book has a new format. The shells are displayed in individual boxes on the plates with the shell's name, size, and general locality information displayed in the same box as the photo. In almost all cases 2 or more views are given for each species shown This should make it a lot easier to use the book. Of course, the new book contains corrections and updates the nomenclature when necessary for the shells in the "Encyclopedia".
