This volume is a very welcome reprint of the first of the two volumes that make up the "Compendium of Bivalves." It has been out of print now for quite a while. The books are the most comprehensive work that has been written covering this class of the mollusks. The book has an unusual format. The original edition had the first 5 chapters in printed form and chapters 5 and 6 on a CD. The reprint now has chapters 1 through 4 and chapter 6 in print form in the book and chapter 5 (although listed in the table of contents is not included and no Cd has been made for this reprinted book). I'll continue to send copies of the CD from the first printing of the book.printed form. The CD version of chapter five a listing of the 6250 species included in this volume. It is followed by chapter six, which is printed consists of special remarks about the families included in this book.
