Mollusca -The Southern Synthesis a compilation of 7,700 papers by 70 authors on the molluscan fauna of Australia. It is a massive work, the articles cover the 423 families of mollusks recognized as from Australia over the six widely recognized classes. The topics include the biogeography and phenology, morphology and biogeography, natural history, history of discovery, and economic significance of the mollusks. The subjects are mostly from the recent fauna but also include some studies from the fossil records of the shells. The papers are illustrated with a few color photographic plates, many black and white photographic and scanning electronic microscope plates also included are numerous drawings, as well as charts and maps. This set was a presentation to the previous owner and Part A has a bookplate autographed to him by the editors. There is some very slight foxing to the front endpaper and the front title page of both parts of the set. With those exceptions, the body of the book looks almost new. There are some slight bumps on the lower corners of the front and back cover of part A as well as a slight depression on the cover. Part B has only a very small bump on the lower edge of the front cover. The spines of both books are faded from sunlight exposure. These books had a limited printing, are long out of print. They are almost never seen for sale.
