In 1996 and 1997 Roland Houart published a two part work on the Muricidae of West Africa. It was a monumental work that encompassed more than 270 pages and 388 figures and it was and is the only complete study of these shells. Unfortunately these books were not printed in a very large quantity and they soon went out of print. There has been a huge demand for copies of this work and in August 2009 Roland agreed put together on CD the complete two volume set along with several other articles, revisions and updates that he has published alone and with others on the same subject. This now gives us not only access to the original works but also brings us right up to date with the information about these shells. I can not recommend this book highly enough but suffice it to say that if you are interested in the Muricidae you will want to have a copy of this CD. The books and most of the articles are in English and in French. |
