Description
The Cephalopoda
by
Carl Chun
1975 reprint of 1910 original, Israel Program for Scientific Translations, English translation of German Original, 4 parts bound in two volumes, hardcover library binding, first volume has 436 pages, second volume consists of 95 plates and the keys to these plates and is not numbered, size is about 9½ by 13¼ inches (about 24.5 by 33.5cm)
This is a beautiful book but one that will have only limited appeal to most of my clients. The Cephalopods are fascinating being the most highly evolved members of the phylum Mollusca but their study is beyond the focus of most shell collectors but they are an invaluable resource for those interested in this branch of study of these molluscs. This book divides the 4 original parts into two volumes with the first volume the text with 61 black and white illustrations and the second volume consists of 95 plates and their keys the plates. These plates are excellent drawings most in black and white, some in color and some in black and white with colored highlights several plates are fold outs .The original publication (in German) appeared in 1910 and is based upon German deep sea expeditions taken in 1898 to 1899. This copy is in almost as new condition with only some slight shelf ware separating them from being "as new".
