What happens when you cross the talents of one of the leading shell experts in the world with the talents a of leading photographer? Well, the results are something like this new book. Originally appearing in Europe as "Regard sur les Coquillages" 2008 marks the debut of the English edition. Dr. Bouchet is an excellent "story teller" as well as being a leading malacologist and I have the feeling that it is his text that is going to make this book (for us)
eclipse
the marvelous photos of the shells that were done by Mermet for this elaborate and beautiful book. There have been a few books quite similar to this one in the past few years but this one gets my nod for being (by far) the best of the batch.

Absolutely stunning photography, the forms and colors of the specimens illustrated are captivating and a welcome departure from tired scientific plates of standard views. Makes for a beautiful and affordable "coffee table" style book that is as intriguing to amateurs and experienced collectors. As a specialist in cypraea I was a little disappointed at the lack of representation, but despite your specific leanings, it is easy to appreciate the beauty of the molluscan world displayed in this book!
