This very popular book first appeared in 1933 and it has gone through numerous revisions with each new edition. It is a small book but it contains a wealth of information about the molluscan fauna of New Zealand. Because it is a fauna that is relatively isolated from other parts of the world it has developed a great number of endemic species. Powell was the foremost malacologist of his time in New Zealand and his books and papers have contributed a wealth of knowledge about the shells of this country. This is a used copy that is in very good condition. It has a few very small tears on its dust jacket and a small place where an address label used as a book plate by the previous owner (not a good idea) has fallen off of the title page. |
