| Shelling in the Sea of Cortez by Paul E. Violette
1964, Dale Stuart King, Tucson, AZ, paper covers, 96 pages, 6 by 9 inches, (about 15 by 22.75 cm) illustrated throughout with drawings by the author and with a few b/w photos showing collecting localities.
This is a nice little field guide that covers many of the shells that the author found beach-combing in what was at this time a rather remote location. Today with the resorts more or less taking over I doubt that duplicating Violette's collecting would be possible. The book is well written and very informative about the shells and their habits and habitats. The line drawings illustrating this book are nicely done and the shells easily recognizable, I must say that I was a bit taken aback by the "Georgia O'Keefesque" rendition of the Pink Murex on the front cover...well, I guess those really were the swinging sixties. This is a used copy butit is almost like new .
