I don't know how I managed not to find the first edition of this delightful book but in a way I am glad that I now have the 2nd, expanded edition to offer you. I guess that this book falls into the category of great ideas that no one ever thinks of...but I think we owe Mr. Barney a hearty vote of thanks for coming up with the idea. Simply put, this book offers us a dictionary that gives us the insight in everyday language and unlocks the meaning that the scientific name of a shell often shrouds from us because we are not familiar with its language. The book is divided into sections each covering, in English a certain aspect of the shell name and then shows us the menaing of the name and gives a listing of shell names where this term is used. t is a lot easier to use the book than to explain how to use it. It is a book that every shell collector should have handy. I should warn though that using this book becomes addictive but with that in miind I can heartily recommend this book to you. |
