Seashells of the Caribbean
by Lesley Suty
1990, Macmillan Education Ltd, laminated paper covers, about 5½ by 8¼ inches (14 by 21 cm), 106 pages color photographs throughout.
There is a paucity of literature of shells found in the Caribbean and in spite of that this paperback is hardly ever seen here. Apparently it was a very popular book outside the USA since this copy is from the fifth printing of this book done in 1995. While this book is far from a comprehensive guide to the shells found in the Caribbean it does offer a very good look and description of some rare and some quite common shells found there. There are also useful introductory sections on shells and shell collecting that make this little guide one that is a valuable addition to the molluscan literature on the shells from this part of the world. There is often confusion with this author's other title"Seashell Treasures of the Caribbean" but the two books are dissimilar and this is not merely a "downsized" version of the earlier book. This is a used book but it is in almost new condition...there is a small bend on the back cover. This book is hard to get and it is worth having.
