| Sea Urchins of the Philippines The Irregulars - Volume 1 by Henk van Noordenburg
2008, pub. by Artificial Harmonics, The Netherlands, laminated boards, 153 pages, 6¾ by 8½ inches, (15 by 21.5 cm) with about 65 full size color plates.
This is the first of a three volume set that will become a study of the very many varied species of Sea Urchins that are found through out the waters of the Philippines. This volume covers what the author calls the irregular species (ie: those that do not have a five fold symmetrical test). The regular species will be treated in the succeeding volumes. Roughly what this volume covers are the "Heart Urchins" and the "Sand Dollars" and the author has done an excellent job in describing the characteristics of each of the species and also gives us detailed photographs of these echinoderms. This appears to be an excellent book and makes a welcome addition to the small number of publications on these fascinating sea creatures.
