-Forma y Color Integrados a la Naturaleza by Jose M. Fernandez Milera
2nd edition, 1999, Editorial Cientifico-Tecnica, Havana, Cuba , in Spanish, heavy paper covers, glued binding, 147 pages, 5.25 by 7.5 inches (13.5 by 18.5cm) 128 figures mostly photographs of shells in full color, some drawings and maps
This is an excellent little publication on the endemic color forms of Polymita picta that are indigenous to Cuba that never received the recognition or circulation that it deserved. it is an extremely well written guide to these colorful and fascinating terrestrial shells. The color photographs are nicely done given the time and place in which they were produced, but unfortunately a few of the negatives got flipped in the press leading one to possibly believe that a great number of these shells are sinistral. But the distribution maps are very useful and the discussion of the evolutionary development of these color forms seems very well done. These are brand new copies. |
