Mollusks -Common and Scientific Names Mollusks
Common and Scientific Names of Aquatic Invertebrates from the United
States and Canada
Edited by committee headed by Donna D. Turgeon
1988,American Fisheries Society Special Publication 16, paper bound,
perfect binding, 277 pages and 12 color plates, paper size is 7 by 10
inches (about 17.5 by 25.5cm)
This is a rather straightforward book and the title and subtitle alone
are enough to let you know what to expect to find here. In brief, the
book is a listing of the scientific name, the common name (where one
exists) and where the shell occurs. As you can imagine, it took a great
deal of time, work and thought to get this book into press. The book
has a brief forward and as you would expect with a book of this kind
consists mainly of the list of names (by classification) and a large
index section to zero in on specific mollusks. The color plates show
the great degree of diversity that is found in the Mollusca. It may not
be a book that you will need very often, but it is a nice one to have
when it is needed. This copy is in very fine condition, There are aa few scratches and slight bends on the front cover and the previous owner's name is on the front fly page. |
