This is a title that we've heard about for years, but were never able to get a single copy to sell. We were delighted to find it among a small library of shell books that we purchased a few weeks ago. Those of you who are familiar with Rios' publications on the shells of Brazil are already familiar with the format of this book with the exception that this book has some color plates before the text section. The text then follows and the plates follow the text. The index follow the text and a bit of page turning is required to see the description and the plates at any one time. The text is entirely in Spanish but anyone familiar with shell terminology and even a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish will be able to use this book to full advantage. The shells included run the full spectrum from the common to the rare and the plates are reasonably sharp. Most readers will opt for the 2011 "Colombian Seashells" but this older book is also a very useful guide to the molluscan fauna of this area and it also contains some information not found in the later book. This is a used book, some bends along the top edges of the cover overall nice condition for this rare title.
