Mitridae Costellariidae
by Alain Robin & Jean-Claude Martin
2004, published by Xenophora, 66 pages including 32 full size color plates, about 8½ by 11¾ inches (21.5 by 30.25 cm) in laminated board covers
This is a beautiful and
very well done work. As I am sure you know, this is a very large family of
shells and the identification of them is often difficult. This book will be a
big help in getting them in order. It is mostly a visual check list with minimal text giving name, author, date
size range, and locality. . There
are 32 full color plates and each species is shown in one or more views showing
their variations. There probably will always be controversy when it comes to the nomenclature and taxonomy of the shells in this family but this book is a very good jumping off point to begin further research.
