| Marine Shells of the Seychelles by Alan G. Jarrett
2000, Carole Green Publishing, UK, in English, laminated boards with printed jacket, 149 pages, large size pages about 9¼ by 12 inches (23 by 30.5cm) color illustrations throughout
There is very little in the shell literature about the many forms of molluscan life that are found in the waters surrounding these offshore (Indian Ocean) African Islands. This book nicely fills in that gap and is a very well done identification guide to about 500 gastropod and 100 bivalve species living there that were collected by the author. Each shell is described and photographed in detailed photos. Most of the shells that are found in this book are also readily found in other generalized shell identification guides. What is nice here is to have a record of the shells found in the 400,000 mile territory that these islands encompass, all under the covers of a single book. This is a brand new copy of this now impossible to find book. |
