| Marine Prosobranch Gastropods From Oceanic Islands Off Brazil by José H. Leal

This is a book that should be in the reference library of everyone who is interested in the shells of the Western Atlantic, but it is unfortunately a very difficult book to find. Very few copies were printed and it has become over the years one of those books that you know about but that you never can buy. This copy is the first one that I can remember seeing since the book went out of print shortly after its publication date. Dr. Leal is today in charge of the Sanibel Shell Museum and those of us who know him know the fine detailed research that he does. This work was his thesis which enabled him to earn his Doctorate degree in malacology. The work records 297 species of marine Gastropods from the 4 off shore island locations in this study. This book except for a slight bend on the front cover os as new. |
