Make no mistake about it this is a
top quality book and one
that is going to be very welcome on the desks of shell enthusiasts and
malacologists
around the world. The many rare and endemic species of shells are found
in the waters
off Russia
and this book is the most complete catalog of those species that has
been
published. It is also commendable that many of the specimens that are
illustrated
are the type specimens and a great deal of time and effort has
certainly been
put into this book by the authors. According to the data given by the
authors
there are 1240 species of gastropods belonging to 350 genera and 110
families
found in the faunal areas that are encompassed in this book. The
photographs
are well reproduced and the translation is clear and understandable.
