| Living Chotons From the Mediterranean Sea by Bruno Dell'Angelo and Carlo Smriglio
2001, Evolver, Rome Italy, in English, laminated board covers, 255 pages, about 8 by 11¾ inches (20.5 by 29.5 cm) 68 page size plates in black and white close ups and SEM photos, and 21 page size color plates illustrating the shells.
This publication is geared to Chiton specialists and it is a very comprehensive study of the thirty five species that the authors report from the Mediterranean. Although the book was publised in 2001 these are the first copies that I am offering. I felt that this publication was too specialized for the general collector (which I still feel is true) who would be much better off with "Chitons of the World" by Sleiker, but for those of you who are really dedicated to the shells in the class Polyplacophora this book is an important work to own. These are new copies but characteristically of this publisher they were sloppily packed fo rshipping and they have bumped corners. Not a major issue really, but it irks me that some publishers spend a lot of monet bringing out their books and then don't spend an extra few pennies to see that they arrive at their destination in good shape.
