To avoid confusion, the subtitle of the book, "Patterns in Conus" refers to the dispersal patterns of these shells, not to the characteristic patterns and markings found on the shells. This is only the second copy of this book that we've ever had and it is the first one that we have seen at a reasonable price. It is a book that is missing from the libraries of most collectors and many scientific research institutions as well. It is a remarkable study of the biology of this large family of marine molluscs as you can see in our scan of the table of contents. It is a significant study showing how the egg size of the cone shells that were studied affects the dispersal patterns of the species that were surveyed. This is an ex-library copy and it has a catalog number written inside the front cover and obliterated library markings on the front and back loose flyleafs. The book shows little if any signs of use.
