| Landsnails of Taiwan by Hsieh, Bo-Chan Hwang,Chung-Chi & Wu,Shu Ping
2006 publication of the Forestry Bureau Council of Agriculture, Taiwan, heavy paper covers, no dust jacket, 278 pages, page size is 5.75 by 8.5 inches (about 15 by 21.5cm)illustrated throughout with color photographs and line drawings, text in ChineseThis appears to be an a very well done and thorough study of the terrestrial mollusks found in Taiwan. It is apparent that a good deal of research went into the writing of this book but I am afraid that the majority of us will have to simply treat this as a very well illustrated photographic catalog of these shells since the text is in Chinese. The photographs are top quality and the line drawings are very useful to point out the distinguishing features of many of the shells that appear to be similar to one another in the photos. The book is very well produced but I wish that the covers were a bit more sturdy. All the copies that I received have their edges slightly bent for lack of use of a thicker covering material. The land shell specialists among you will certainly want to ad this book to your collection in spite of the language barrier.
