Land Snails and Slugs of the Pacific Northwest
by Thomas E. Burke
ISBN 978-0-87071-685-0, 2013 publication of the Oregon State University Press, Corvallis, OR., paperback, 344 pages, 10 by 7-inch size (17.5 by 25 cm), contains color photographs throughout.
This book proclaims that it is primarily an identification guide for the 245 taxa that make up the terrestrial molluscan population of the Pacific Northwest. But it is also an extremely well done scientific reference work to these snails and slugs. The book contains several identification keys, range maps, thorough descriptions of the shells and slugs, as well as 280 color photographs of 155 species. The book covers those species that occur in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and the Western part of Montana in the USA. I specialized but highly recommended work. This book is a used ex-library copy but it is in excellent condition. It has library catalog labes on the front cover and the spine and a date and library cancellation stamp on the front end-paper. Apart from that the book can pass as a new copy.
