Hong Kong Seashells
by John Orr
No ISBN, published by Urban Council Publications, Hong Kong, probably after 1985, heavy paper covers, about 5.5 by 8.5 inches, 14.5 by 21.5 cm., 122 pages, large color photographs, many of living mollusks in situ, throughout, as well as smaller color photos in text, drawings, and a map,
This is a very pretty and useful guide to some of the species of marine mollusks that can be found in the waters surrounding the islands and the mainland that make up Hong Kong. The book also offers some nice introductory information about mollusks and offers some tips on their collection and preservation. Information is included for the identification and collecting of these shells. The underwater photographs of the shells in their natural surroundings are worth the price of this little book even if nothing else were included. Copies of this book in the USA are scarce and I am not even sure if it can be obtained in Hong Kong at this time.
