Field Guide to the Land Snails and Slugs of Eastern South Africa
by Dai Herbert & Dick Kilburn

ISBN  0-620-32415-5, published in 2004 by the Natal Museum, South Africa,  laminated boards, about 6½ by 9½ inches or 16 by 24 cm., 336 pages illustrated throughout with color photos of the living animals and cabinet specimens, black and white photographs, maps, charts and other illustrations

We were able to offer this book when it first was published but it went out of print quickly and this is the first copy we've seen in a long time. It is an excellent book and far beyond what you would expect in a book called a "field guide". It is more of a complete treatment and analysis  of these shelled and shell-less molluscs found in the Eastern part of South Africa. Studies of the molluscs from this region are few and far between. We are fortunate to have this book since a good number of the species that were studied are now or may soon be endangered by the spread of farming and the increase in human population in the region.

This is a used copy that appears to be almost new. It is autographed by both of the authors on the title page and it is a copy that belongs in the library of everyone interested in the terrestrial molluscs.
