No ISBN, published in 1957 by Hokuryukan, Tokyo, Japan, contains 200 pages including 91 page size color plates, there are 66 pages of bilingual indices and 37 pages of introductory material, 303 pages in all, page size is about 7 by 10 inches or 17.5 by 25.5 cm., hardcover bound in light gold boards with front and back boards stamped with design and with brown spine embossed with book information in gold, covered with a clear plastic protective cover and in a printed, cardboard slipcase.
This volume was part of an encyclopedic set and its main coverage is of the molluscs which seem to be found in Japan and in the adjacent areas. It is beautifully illustrated with clear color photographs and top quality color drawings. The text is in Japanese but evn those that can not read the language will find that it is a very useful identification guide to the molluscs, echinoderms and a few other forms of sea life from the western Pacific. Ten authors in addition to Okada and Taki have contributed their work to this volume of the encyclopedia. This is the first copy of this book that we have seen.
