This book is one that was called to our attention by a good friend and I am glad that she came across it. It is an amazingly dedicated work on a single species of Cypraea which are presented to us in a tabular analysis of their conchological characteristics and then shown to us in color illustration. The first section of this is an analysis of 530 specimens of Cribrarula gaskoini with the statistical data for these shells in a tabular listing for 16 sizes and ratios. The next section consists of color photographs of 522 of these specimens each in 6 different views. There is also a section on other species of Cypraea that the authors feel are related to to Cypraea gaskoini. The conclusion reached from this study is that the" Hawaiian populations described in the past as C. gaskoini should be treated as a subspecies of C.cumingii gaskoini (Reeve,1846). Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with this conclusion, this book presents a very well thought out path to this conclusion and it is a book that will be wanted by all Cypraea collectors. I can not think of a single example of a study of any other individual mollusk that is as detailed as is the work found in this book
