Since shell prices have changed a lot since this book was published leaving the section on prices pretty much out of date the real value of this book is the systematics and in the synonomy sections. I don't think that there will ever be a systematic classification of this family that will be completely satisfactory to , the proposed classifaction here is as workable as any other that I know. It is based on the conchological characteristics of the shells. The book will be of value to Cypraea collectors interested in classifiaction below the level of family and genus. These books are in new condition. The introduction is in Italian, English, French & German, book is not illustrated but has b/w copies of old engravings front and back. |
