This publication was printed during what would have to be the "golden age" of shell collecting. A time when almost everyday there were new shells discovered in the Philippines and shells that were once great rarities where coming up in numbers. This journal gives us a good look into waht is happening in the Philippine shell world at that time along with some interesting articles (some by Springsteen, the co-author of the classic "hells of the Philippines" along with some of the scuttlebut as to who was visiting the PI. It is a time capsule of the period. The book is used and while the content is in good shape, the covers are bad. The binding was laminated and it was badly done. It delaminated in palces and that has been repaired with clear tape. A more serious poblem is that the front board cover has begun to separate from the binding. This also has been taped together internally and along the spine. There is also an address label on the front loose flyleaf with the name of the previous owner. If you disregard the cosmetic problems that this book has, you will have some fascinating reading ahead of you.
