Gioielli dalle Conchiglie
by Tiziano Cossignani
1993, Ancona, Italy, laminated boards, about 8 by 11¾ inches (A4 size 21 by 30 cm) 136 pages include 204 color photos, in Italian
This is an amazing look at cameos and it covers and illustrates just about every aspect of cameo making that you can think of. From the shells that come out of the sea to the factories and craftsmen that produce them to the finished product that we see in the form of jewelery and in beautiful objects that decorate our homes. The book is in Italian but the photographs are so good that it is easy to follow and understand this book without having to rely on the text. Featured are some of the magnificent pieces in the in the author's collection. There are several other great books on cameos and on cameo carving but I feel that this is the one to have in your library.
