| Bivalves from Continental Shelf & Slope Around Japan by T. Okutani, M. Tagawa, H.Horikawa
1989, Japan Fisheries Resource Conservation Assoc., hardcover with protective plastic book jacket, 190 pages, in Japanese & English, book size is 7¼ by 9¼ inches (about 18.5 by 26.5 cm) 160 species illustrated in color and in about ¼ page sized illustrations, one new species described.
This book is the result of several deep sea expeditions made by the Japanese Fisheries Dept. mainly in an attempt to catalog edible species found in the waters within a 200 mile radius of Japan. These expeditions were mainly in 1977 through 1979 but a few of the species included here were found on later expeditions. It is a beautiful book and as well as a book that just covers its subject mattter. The illustrations in the book are every bit as beautiful as the illustrations found in "Shells of Sagami Bay". I suspect that this is a very scarce book and it is the only copy that we've ever seen. The book appears to be in new condition. |
