| Bahrain Seashells by Stephen Green photographs by Nazem Chouhfeh
1994, published privately, hard cover with cloth binding with gold embossing and with printed dust jacket, 178 pages + index and bibliography, 12 by 8¾ inches, 31 by 22 cm about 160 page size color plates
This is a very rare book and it is only the second copy that I've heard of and the first I've had. Bahrain is an Island State that lies in the Red Sea in the Gulf between Saudi Arabia and Qutar. This book was written with a duo fold purpose, one to serve as a souvenir and secondly and more importantly to serve as a guide to the 161 molluscan species found around the island. It is a beautifully produced book and the author has enlisted the help of several experts in the area pf shells from the Red Sea as consultants. The photographs are very sharp and strikingly presented. The shells are presented to us one species per page with the shells photograph (often more than one specimen) taking up the major part of the page and the description of the shell and size and range information (also show on a map on each page) fills the remainder of the page. This copy appears to be new but unfortunately there is some bumping to the front corners of the cover and jacket and very slight creasing of the edges of the jacket .
