This attractive book reproduces the 80 watercolor paintings of shells made by the Dutch physician, Van Rijgersma of shells collected for the greater part from Saint Martin Island, Netherlands Antilles, and also from a few other locations in the Caribbean. The manuscript for these plates was lost for about a hundred years and the origianl notations from this manuscript are reproduced here too. These comments are updated with editiorial comments and frequent nomenclatural updates by Dr. Coomans. This book is quite scarce and I've only ever seen a handful of them. This is a previously owned copy but it is in as new condition. |
